Co-funded by the European Union, this 12-month project brings together a dedicated consortium of partners: SYNERGIA (Portugal), POLIVISION Foundation (Poland), and VšĮ Švietimas ir paveldas (SIP) (Lithuania). Together, they are working to create a safer, more supportive online environment for youth across Europe.
Addressing a Critical Need
Recent studies and the project's own comprehensive Needs
Analysis Report highlight a pressing reality: while young people are highly
active online and possess a strong conceptual understanding of cyberbullying,
many lack the practical skills to respond effectively. The research, conducted
across Portugal, Poland, and Lithuania, revealed that witnessing cyberbullying
is common, yet youth often feel unequipped to intervene safely or seek
appropriate support.
"Young people understand what cyberbullying is, but
there is a significant gap between awareness and action," the report
notes. "They need practical, engaging, and emotionally supportive learning
experiences that combine digital safety skills with emotional resilience."
The CYBERSAFE-Z Guidebook: A Practical Tool for Change
To bridge this gap, the project has developed the CYBERSAFE-Z Educational
Guidebook. Designed primarily for youth workers, educators, and
NGO staff, this resource offers a structured, six-module curriculum that
combines accessible theory with non-formal education (NFE) activities.
The modules cover essential topics:
By utilizing interactive methods such as role-playing,
scenario analysis, and group discussions, the guidebook empowers facilitators
to move beyond passive awareness campaigns. It focuses on building core
competencies: emotional regulation, technical safety skills (like blocking and
reporting), effective communication, critical thinking, and safe bystander
intervention.
A Community-Centred Approach
CYBERSAFE-Z is built on the belief that digital safety is a collective responsibility. The project not only targets young people but also equips youth workers and educators with the tools they need to provide effective support. Through webinars, youth awareness workshops, and a peer-support social media campaign, the initiative is fostering a network of informed and resilient digital citizens.
As part of our commitment to turning awareness into
action, we are excited to announce our upcoming CYBERSAFE-Z Interactive Workshop in
Vilnius, Lithuania!
This hands-on event is designed for youth workers,
educators, NGO representatives, and young people who want to learn practical
strategies for combating cyberbullying. Participants will have the opportunity
to test the new guidebook modules, engage in role-playing scenarios, and
network with peers dedicated to digital safety.
